I took this picture a long time ago when I was visiting the Pittsburgh Zoo. It’s always been a favorite of mine. When I look at it, I wonder what might be going thru this little guy’s mind…
Maybe he’s formulating a plan of escape or contemplating a career change. Could be he’s been shunned by the other monkeys and is just off by himself reflecting. Or he might just be waiting for lunch or for his contact on the outside to stop by and slip him a smoke thru the fence. Is it possible he’s in a timeout for bad behavior? One thing’s for sure, you could easily hear this “solitary” monkey singing that old spiritual song, “Nobody knows the trouble I’ve seen…nobody knows my sorrow.”
