It’s the opening weekend of a new college basketball season and this week’s photo challenge ‘Achievement’ has me thinking hoops.
On my trip to California this past summer, I made a visit to the campus of UCLA.
During the 60s and early 70s, UCLA dominated college basketball by winning 10 NCAA championships in 12 seasons, including an 88 game winning streak.
The coach during those seasons was John Wooden…a great man and a great coach. His office is preserved as shown above in the UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame on campus and free to tour.
Not only in basketball, but in many other collegiate sports, UCLA has certainly ‘achieved’ a level of success that is very impressive. I was a gym rat…playing and watching a lot of basketball over the years. It was a treat to visit their hall of fame and soak in their rich basketball tradition…and sort of an ‘achievement’ of mine to finally get out to the west coast and see it.
